Obstructive Sleep Apnoea affects 5% of the Australian population and can occur at any age, but is more common in men than women and is often associated with being overweight. It is a condition that causes you to have repetitive pauses or reductions in breathing during your sleep. The reduction of oxygen can have detrimental effects on your sleep quality and overall health. It also increases your risk of obesity, high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, type 2 diabetes, and depression.
